Quinacridone Violet is a Single Pigment Oil Color reminiscent of the historic Tyrian purple dye made from sea snail gland excretions. It exactly matches the mass tone, undertone, and tints of the now obsolete Phoenician purple. Phoenician purple was prohibitory expensive used solely for dying fabric for royalty. This is where we get the term royal purple or Phoenician purple. It mixes bright purples, with white, darkens cadmium reds, and creates interesting deep tones with oranges, and yellows.
